New Blog!

I am no longer going to be blogging at the site! My new blog is called 'Hello Beautiful' so make sure you pop over there at http://why-hello-beautiful.blogspot.com.au . I decided the best way to enforce my blog resolutions would be to make this switch.

I May

Today, May day, is a very appropriate day for this post.
There is a lot to be said about my name.

  • When someone hears my name, they ask if I was born in May. In case you are wondering, I was born in June, My birthday is in exactly one month.
  • When I was younger, I dreamt of changing my name to something more average and ordinary when I grew up. Whoever said I was average?
  • 'May' sounds soft and sweet.
  • Since it's so unique, I don't have to initial my last names on things.
  • It's short, which is wonderful when making acrostic poems using my name because it only takes me a minute.
  • Some people think my name is spelled, 'Mae.' I quite like that spelling, so that's okay with me.
  • 'May' means several different things. Me, a month, a flower, and a verb, So my ears prick up when it's used.
Another fun thing with my name is that  we've come up with some great last names that would compliment my first name. Some of my favourite future names are:

  • May Onaise
  • May Niac
  • May Hem
  • May Be
  • May Or
If you want to comment, share the history of your name. Or tell what you love/don't love about it.
Happy May Day!

Just a Thought to Ponder

If you were to wake up tomorrow with only the things you thanked God for today, what would you have?

Blog Changes

I’ve kept this blog for nearly a year, and I’ve really enjoyed the journey. I think we are ready to step it up a level, though. I have some blog resolutions to make.

I want to continue using original photos. I don’t want to use clipart, etc.

I want to blog more regularly. At least once a week, probably on the weekend.

I want to share with more people.

I want to blog about more topics. This means sometimes talking about things that don’t interest me as much.

I’ve already made a couple of changes to keep the blog fresh and interesting.

There are new categories! I’m really excited about these. They are captured, created, written, worn, experienced and etc. I’ll still have labels; however, they will be more like sub-categories.

There’s a new page about me.

Click on the link to ‘this is my life’ to see it.

I’m going to be posting a ‘May favourites,’ a ‘June favourites’ and so on at the end of each month. This will be a post which is a short list of things I’ve read, made, watched, listened to and/or done, that I recommend others enjoy as well.

Chocolate Makes Me Smile

Chocolate comes from cocoa,
Which is a tree.
That makes it a plant.
Chocolate is salad.

Rain Makes Me Smile

You can view the list of things that make me smile here.

And you can view the previous posts about this list here!

I adore rainy weekends. The ones when I would rather stay in bed than get moving. And when I do get moving, I do stuff I love, like a craft project or writing a short story.

I love falling asleep with the sound of rain pattering on the tin roof overhead. It sends shivers down my arm, and I love that.

There are rainy days that ruin plans. Rainy days that slosh mud over scheduled picnics. But there’s always something to learn from those days.

The joy that comes after the rain—the mild breeze and the refreshing smell—is a total plus.

Rain, you make me smile. :)

Fresh Paper Makes Me Smile

I had so much fun with my '5 things that make me smile' list blog post that I wanted to go into more detail, throwing in some photography as well.
Ahh...I do love the smell of fresh paper. I discovered I like to take a sniff of a new book before cracking open the cover.
When we get a new ream of paper, I usually volunteer to open it.
And when we go to shopping, the stationary shop is a priority for me.
It's not just the smell of paper that I love. I also grin at imagining the possibilities that could come from a blank page.
Paper, you make me smile. :)
